Built in 1980 by a leading Chartered Architect, this plantation-style residence has been the heart of the Fernando family and a cherished sanctuary for countless guests seeking refuge in our peaceful gardens.

The House that Built a Legacy
In the 1980s, No. 19, St. Stephens Villa, Rajagiriya was designed and built by one of Sri Lanka's leading Chartered Architects. It was more than a house — it was a statement of timeless elegance, space, and grace.
This distinguished home became the beloved residence of the late Lasantha P Fernando and Sriyanee Fernando and family who lived here, loved here, and made memories here for 45 years.
Here, in this very living room, over a cup of Ceylon tea, friendships were forged that lasted a lifetime Laughter echoed through these halls, stories were shared late into the night, and many a friend of the Fernando brothers walked through these doors as friends of the family, and of our beloved late father in law Lasantha P Fernando.
Today, we have lovingly preserved its soul and transformed this cherished family home into a luxurious villa collection, so that you too can feel at home here.

What makes a house a home is the warmth within.
At No. 19, that warmth is our beloved Rani. She is not just our housekeeper; she is family. She was personally trained by my mother-in-law — herself the wife of a very Senior Plantation Manager who worked for the Sterling Plantation companies and upheld the gold standard of the Ceylon planter’s bungalow, where hospitality was an art form.
That art — where every guest is treated as family, every meal is served with grace, and every corner is kept immaculate — is what Rani brings to you every single day.

Also once the pride and joy of the late Mr. L.P. Fernando, who purchased Powysland Estate 20 years ago, this authentic planter's bungalow was lovingly refurbished by our family in 2024.
Personally managed by Lanil and his wife Sandra, you will be looked after by our dedicated hill country team led by Chef Kevin and trusted assistants Arumugam & Banda.
